GENERAL INFO ABOUT GOODNIGHT CLINICS Julie Goodnight conducts horsemanship clinics for all disciplines (English and Western) and all ability levels, at various private and public facilities in North America. Clinics are fun and active, with a focus on bridging natural horsemanship techniques with the principles of classical riding. Julie's teachings are focused on finding success and improvement for each and every horse and rider by developing a deeper understanding of the horse and riding skills that lead to a balanced and rhythmic rider and a light and responsive horse. Clinics are Saturday and Sunday, 9-5, and there are a maximum of fifteen riders in the clinic. Expect to work together in the arena all day, doing both ground work and mounted work, with a focus on refining riding skills and developing a better relationship with your horse. All ability levels are welcome as long as the rider has basic control at the walk and trot. Each rider works at his/her own pace without pressure to go outside you or your horse’s comfort zone. You may bring two horses if you want to; the only additional charge is for stalling.

What others have said about riding with Julie:

"I took my 17 hand Thoroughbred gelding to Julie's clinic in Parker. I had planned on taking my other horse (15 hand QH gelding - who I ride primarily western) but he was laid up and I "had" to take big Lance (who I ride primarily english). I didn't know what to expect since I'd never even seen Julie on TV before, much less in a clinic, but I was thoroughly surprised at how down to earth she was (I've been to plenty of clinics where the clinician is arrogant and very opinionated about what type of riding you do, etc) and I learned so much! My horse was a superstar and I got an extra "bonus lesson" when he refused to go in the wash rack and Julie helped me with her flagging technique - which works great for trailer loading too. I told Julie that that technique "changed our lives" and she probably thinks I was kidding. I now spend under 2 minutes loading him and it has made taking him places so much more fun - for both of us! I'm signed up for another clinic in June and also attended the clinic at C Lazy U last October (that's a not-to-be-missed clinic if there ever was one - that place is awesome!)." --Susie
"A long standing member of the AQHA I have been to countless shows and had many trainers and none of them ever explained "why" like Julie did. Nor did they ever admit that they too needed to work on themselves. I really appreciate that about Julie, it helps me make a connection with her. She feels really committed to helping people learn for the sake of the horse first and for most and I see no ego or "higher than thou" attitude which is such a turn off for me."
"I attended all three of your clinics at Quarterfest and just wanted to thank you for a great weekend. I learned so much. Now I just need to unlearn what I have done incorrectly for almost 50 years. Again, thanks for all the help."
"Hello Julie, You did an awesome job at the Windy Creek Roundup (and so did your husband) !! It was very IMPRESSIVE, lots of great action, and FUN. It was a pleasure to see you and watch you compete. Having audited your clinics/demos for years, it is an honor to watch you "put everything into action". We hope to see you in the future. THANKS for demonstrating your excellent riding skills."
"The way you are able to find simple and easy methods for people to communicate better with their horses is inspiring." |
